Biography

I was born in Trois-Pistoles, on the shore of the St-Lawrence River. My mother and both of my grandmothers being sewers, I lived to peruse sewing books and accessories, from a very early age. In high school, I made most of my clothes, and subsequently, I decided to continue my studies in the art of the clothing trade in Quebec at the Notre-Dame-de-Foy campus. That’s where I was chosen to go to the Banff School of Fine Arts as an apprentice in theatre, which led me to an eight-year costume career in Canada’s biggest theatres.

In 1990, I founded "Giggles & Wiggles ", a company for creating children’s clothes. My clothing was sold at exhibitions where it was judged and recognized for its sturdiness. In 1996, I returned to the theatre as a costume maker.  In 2009, I took a course at the Haliburton School of the Arts in Ontario to learn the techniques used to make a textile art quilt. My initial creation won the first prize and was printed on the cover of the Canadian magazine "A Needle Pulling Thread ".
In the spring of 2011, I won the first prize in the Trend-Tex Challenge of the Canadian Quilters Association. Happy with such recognition, I decided to go ahead with my passion. The following year, I, therefore, decided to open an artistic creations shop called "Libexpression". The Trend-Tex Challenge jury again awarded me the first prize in their 2012 and 2013 contest editions.
